Structure of mechanism |
Function |
This scale is composed of a fixed stand and a beam which holds on one side a large tray and on the other side a small hanging pan, supported by a stirrup resting on the beam’s knife-edge. The small pan is attached to the stirrup by a hook. The end of the beam which holds the small pan also has a marker, enabling the scale to be balanced with respect to a second marker, also located on the beam and featuring a wooden handle. These two markers indicate when equilibrium is achieved. |
