This is a wooden base holding a tank stand (alcohol tank?), with cotton wicks which were set alight. A metal rod is located just above, attached at one of its ends. The other end, which is free, is in contact with the arm of a bent moving needle in front of a dial graduated from 1 to 90. The base also features a support with three other metal rods (copper, aluminium, iron, brass). |
