Structure of mechanism

Function The brass receiver stands on a wooden base. It is composed of a mechanical part, comprising a clockwork mechanism enabling the regular outflow (via the paper roller) of the paper on which the signal will be printed, and an electromagnetic part, composed of an electromagnet and an armature with a lever (the knife). When an electric current runs through the electromagnet, the knife presses against a wheel which is soaked in ink, causing either a dot or a dash to be printed. When the current is interrupted, a spring returns the armature to its initial position.

Application

Examples of application This device enables electrical signals from a receiver to be printed on paper in the form of dots and dashes. It was used during practical classes for future teachers at the men’s and women’s teacher training colleges in Aurillac (Cantal), now the University Institute of Teacher Training.
