Structure of mechanism
Function This is a metal cut-away model of a motor. A bulb is used to simulate the ignition of the spark plug; a white plug is connected to the armature and a red plug is connected to the copper blade which makes contact with the bulb. A wooden lever operates a gear train, causing the cams to move and the valve to open.
 

Application
Examples of application This model enabled the study of a 4-stroke engine (admission-compression-ignition-exhaust). It was probably used to demonstrate the 4-stroke principle during practical classes for future teachers at the teacher training colleges in Aurillac (Cantal), now the University Institute of Teacher Training.
