Function

The Berlin Carl Dietrich invented in 1875 the bottle swing top used today.
At that time, the bottles were still closed by hand with a cork, and various problems occurred, how to firm or too loose cork.
This led regularly to burst the bottles. With the new clip closure, these problems have been fixed.
According to the patent application four times more bottles could be closed in the same time also with the new clip closure, as with the traditional cork.
His invention was particularly used for beer bottles, which replaced the open beer sales in pitchers, which were popular till this time.
