on spindle 1. Heavy cy lind rical magnetic circuit components
3, w ith inserted coils 5, are tig h tly fitted into the pickup
housing. The clearances between armature 2 and magnetic circuit
components 3 vary w ith the size of workpiece a. This varies
the inductance of the coils. The inductance is used as a measure
of workpiece size. S pring 4 provides the requiredj'measuring
force.
