Lászlo József Biró was the inventor of the commonly used ball pen. He was an Hungarian journalist that later moved to Argentina escaping from the World War II. Here, he improved his invention and started to market it with the name of “Birome”. He died in Buenos Aires, Argentina on November 24th in 1985.
Lászlo József Biró was the inventor of the commonly used ball pen among other ideas he patented such as an automatic car transmission and magnetic levitation train system. He was born in Hungary on September 29th in 1899, he worked as a journalist that later moved to Argentina, where he was nationalized, escaping from the World War II. Here, he improved his invention with his partner, Juan Jorge Meynes, and started to market it with the name of “Birome” from Biró+MEynes and generically known as “Esferográfica” (Spherographic). He died in Buenos Aires, Argentina on November 24th in 1985. Nowadays, his birthdate is considered the Inventor’s Date in Argentina.
