French architect, mathematician and engineer
Desargues was an important representative of the projective geometry. He studied the change of objects, which are projected on a plane inclined, and found a method for the geometric structure of the perspective images of objects, and for the treatment of conical sections. He introduced the so-called modern or projective geometry as a new approach, independent from the traditional Greek geometry. Desargues dealt with cycloid. According to him, the Desargues' theorem is named. His teachings were his contemporaries to geometric theory, although they could find practical application in architecture and painting.
