Besson, Jacques (1510 - 1576)

French mathematician and engineer
Besson wrote one of the first books with illustrations of machines and mechanisms, which survived as printed matter. In his "Theatrum instrumentorum et machinarum" he has already presented a thread cutter with tool carriage. He stressed the mathematical foundations of mechanics and tried to bring the reader closer to the general theory, based on his inventions.
