American physicist and professor of mechanical engineering; Denavit introduced a calculation method based on matrices

Denavit was an expert in dynamics and kinematics. His name became known in connection with the introduction of a method to describe the relationship between two joints in different coordinate systems using only four parameters. Together with his teacher Hartenberg he developed a method that allowed the algebraic analysis of spatial kinematic chains with the help of matrices. The method of derivation of these matrices is now regarded as a standard procedure. Denavit also worked in the field of plasma physics.
