Ferdinand Freudenstein è stato professore presso Columbia University in New York, USA, nel periodo 1950-2006 svolgendo una intensa attività didattica, di ricerca e progettazione in vari campi dell’ingegneria meccanica, ma con particolari interessi in Cinematica delle macchine. E’ considerato il padre della moderna cinematica, soprattutto in America, per i risultati proposti in cinematica dei meccanismi, come la famosa equazione di Freudenstein.
